TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A San Antonio man who died from an apparent drowning in Lake Travis over the weekend has been identified as Luke Fashaw, 36.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says Fashaw was swimming with friends near an anchored pontoon boat in the Devil’s Cove area around 3:22 p.m. Saturday when witnesses say he went under.

Fushaw was “swimming normally” prior to going under, witnesses said. A member of TCSO’s Dive Team was able to recover Fushaw’s body less than an hour later in an area about 50 feet deep.

An autopsy report will determine Fushaw’s official cause of death, but authorities say it appears to be an accidental drowning.

Including Fushaw’s death, five people have died or gone missing in Lake Travis this summer. Two people, Manuel Salas, 53, and Rachel Kathleen Scott, 25, are still missing.
