TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Drivers will see more traffic than normal on I-35 this week, as the decks will be alternatively closed for paving.
The Texas Department of Transportation will alternate closures of the upper and lower decks of northbound I-35 at the split in Travis County.
From Sunday to Tuesday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. TxDOT will close the lower deck. During the closures, northbound main lane traffic will be detoured to the upper deck at Martin Luther King Boulevard which is exit 235A.
On Wednesday night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the upper deck will be closed. Construction crews will divert northbound traffic to the lower deck at the split. While the deck is closed, traffic will drop down to one lane from Airport Blvd to 51st Street.
TxDOT says the closures will cause delays and traffic and urges drivers to find alternate route. The department also asks that drivers be on the look out for construction workers in the area.
