Pflugerville Police say a man is in custody after leading officers on a chase through the town and south on SH130 Monday night. The driver, James Reagan Coulter, 40, faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading in a motor vehicle.

According to a statement from Pflugerville Police, the chase began after officers pulled Coulter over near North Railroad Avenue and East Pfenning Lane at 9:25 p.m. Police say Coulter smelled of alcohol. As he was looking for his license, Coulter instead drove away heading east down Pfenning Lane.

Once Coulter started driving on SH 130, police asked for help from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety. TCSO sent its SWAT team and DPS sent both ground and air support.

The chase ended at Highway 130 and FM 812 near Circuit of the Americas around 11:50 p.m.

Police say a passenger who got out of the car just after the chase started was detained and then released.

One TCSO SWAT vehicle was damaged in the chase. Nobody was hurt.
