APD identify man hit, killed on south I-35/William Cannon

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police shut down south Interstate 35 near William Cannon Boulevard early Saturday morning after a vehicle hit and killed a man.

Austin police said the incident happened just before 5 a.m. in the 6100 block of S. IH 35 southbound.

Police said a Ford Escape was traveling southbound and hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Marcus Sierra, died at the scene.

Police said the driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

APD said this was Austin’s 104th fatal traffic crash of 2021.
