LLANO, Texas (KXAN) — A machete-wielding man shot and killed by a Department of Public Safety trooper in Llano on Sunday has been identified.

Warren Jay Beaubien, 49, died at the scene at 600 Bessemer Ave. He had previously gotten into a knife fight with another resident at the RV park, according to Hill Country Scanner reporter Tom Suarez on the scene, and barricaded himself in a trailer when law enforcement arrived around 6:16 a.m.

As they tried to break down a fence to get him out, Beaubien allegedly came out swinging the machete and a trooper fired, Suarez said.

Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation.
