STONEWALL, Texas (KXAN) — Visitors who are hoping to catch a glimpse of how President Lyndon B. Johnson lived at the Texas White House will have to put their plans on hold, because the National Park Service is temporarily closing the home and the adjacent pool house due to safety concerns arising from structural issues.
The Texas White House is located on the grounds of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, located along US 290 in between Blanco and Fredericksburg.
The NPS is taking immediate action to investigate the safety concerns, although details on the damage have not been released. Both buildings will remain closed until further notice.
All other park facilities, such as the working farm, are open to the public. The LBJ Ranch driving tour is not affected, and the LBJ Ranch hangar visitor center is open as normal.
