FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) — Authorities in Fredericksburg are investigating a man for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend Monday morning.

Paola Lizzethe Guzman Aguilar, 22, was discovered unresponsive in her apartment by her family in her apartment in the 400 block of East Walnut Street, in between State Highway 16 and South Washington Street.

Police and EMS responded to the scene and transported Aguilar to Hill Country Memorial Hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

Authorities also found Aguilar’s 3-year-old child inside the residence. The child was in good health and later released to Aguilar’s parents, Fredericksburg police said.

The investigation revealed a possible struggle had occurred. Aquilar’s family told police they were suspicious of their daughter’s estranged boyfriend and stated that the two recently broke up. A witness told police they saw the boyfriend driving near the scene earlier that morning.

According to the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department, the boyfriend, Ramiro Garcia Flores, 21, confessed to a third party that he had strangled Aguilar. This third party contacted the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department who then took Flores into custody.

Police say Flores confessed to the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department that he strangled Aguilar. The Fredericksburg Police charged Flores with murder and his bond is set at $1 million.
