DPS: ‘Unknown engine problem’ caused Blanco County plane crash

BLANCO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A small plane carrying a pilot and passenger crashed in Blanco County Friday evening because of an “unknown engine problem”, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened just before 8:15 p.m. about 16 miles south of Horseshoe Bay in Blanco County on Friday.

Horseshoe Bay Police Department alerted DPS around 8:49 p.m. DPS’ trooper headed to the scene but a spokesperson for the department said injuries of those involved are still unknown. 

STARFlight was also requested to head to the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board is closed because of the government shut down and could not be reached.
