SAN MARCOS (KXAN) — Texas State University will host over 300 law enforcement officers for the 29th annual Hostage Negotiation Training and Competition Jan. 14-17.
About 30 teams will participate in the mock hostage negotiation exercises, with representatives from Singapore, Canada, New England, California, Ohio and Florida.
“They’ll be graded on how they negotiate with the hostage takers,” said Wayman Mullins, of the university’s Department of Criminal Justice, in a release. “This is a role-playing scenario that tries to mimic real life as much as possible.”
The program is not open to the public.
