Keeping Texas State students safe after recent homicide

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — A suspicious death discovered at an apartment complex Wednesday morning is being investigated as a homicide-robbery, according to San Marcos Police.

SMPD responded with San Marcos Hays County EMS to a call at about 7:24 a.m. in the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs Drive, where the Park North Condos are located. A man, identified as 20-year-old Aaron Jackson Peterman, was found dead in his apartment with a single gunshot wound by a family member.

Investigators found that some of Peterman’s valuables were missing from the scene, prompting them to classify the crime as a homicide-robbery. According to Texas State University, Peterman was a student.

This is the first homicide of the year in San Marcos. A man was shot and killed at the same apartment complex last August.
