Suspect in San Marcos apartment shooting turns himself in

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — A man accused of shooting someone in the parking lot of a San Marcos apartment complex turned himself in to police early Tuesday morning.

An-drew Stephen Jones, 23, faces a murder charge in connection with the shooting of 21-year-old Nicholas Devone White outside the the Uptown Square Apartments on the 1300 block of Thorpe Lane April 5.

“One witness stated that he was meeting the shooting victim at the apartment complex to buy drugs,” police wrote in a release. While at the complex, the victim and witness were confronted by the above described subject who produced a handgun and shot the victim.”

Around 6:37 p.m., police were called about the shooting. White died at the hospital from his injuries.

Jones had left the scene. The next day, San Marcos SWAT used explosive breaches to serve both a search and an arrest warrant at his home, but he wasn’t there. 

San Marcos police say Jones surrendered at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center at 4 a.m. Tuesday. His bond has not been set.
