SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — San Marcos police responded to the scene of a home invasion and sex assault at The Retreat apartment complex in the 500 block of Craddock Avenue. It’s the second sex assault in that area reported in the past two weeks.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing all-black clothing, ski mask and as being armed with a handgun. According to SMPD, while the two cases have not been linked, the suspect description and incident “closely match” details of a sex assault reported at another Craddock Avenue complex last week, on April 24.
After the incident Thursday evening, police searched the area for the suspect, who was thought to still be around. This search, however, intersected with another sex assault investigation happening just a street over, at The Edge apartment complex.
The Retreat sex assault is the second in eight days in the area and the third violent crime in the area in just as much time. Earlier this week, a man wearing all black clothes and a black mask held at gunpoint another resident of the same complex as the April 24 assault.
“It is scary,” said Madison Cline, a San Marcos resident. “It is scary that it is right down the road and this is college students and so we don’t have the safety that we might have in a different location.”
Police confirmed Thursday night that the suspect has not been caught yet.
