San Marcos police looking for suspect in apartment break-in spree


SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Police in San Marcos announced they are looking for a suspect believed to be behind three break-ins in the span of one hour.

The break-ins happened between 6 and 7 a.m. Sunday April 21.

One of the incidents was reported at the Dakota Ranch apartments, the other two were reported at The Edge apartments. The two complexes are both on Old Ranch Road 12. 

Police say the break-in at the Dakota Ranch apartment complex happened later in the hour. The suspect climbed into the apartment through the second story balcony. According to the witness, the suspect went into her bedroom and started grabbing her while she was sleeping. 

The victim screamed, then the suspect ran out of the apartment and got away. 

The suspect was seen wearing a green letterman-style jacket with a white shirt under. He is described as White or Hispanic, 5’3″ to 5’5″, dark or black hair, with an average build. 

Police do not know if the suspect is from the San Marcos area or a student at Texas State University. 

San Marcos police are asking for any one who may have surveillance footage to check it during the hour when this happened.
