2 charged in death of Buda man who was shot with BB gun, stabbed

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two people are facing murder charges after a 36-year-old man was found dead in a home near Buda earlier this year, according to a press release from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. 

Mark James Stevens and Jeanette Lauralee Stevens, both 38 years old, were arrested Tuesday on the charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Brandon Lamont Fontenette.

Fontenette had been shot multiple times with an “airsoft BB gun,” and stabbed once, according to court documents. “He died from the knife wound with no efforts at resuscitation or medical intervention,” officials wrote.

Both suspects were remanded to Hays County Jail on $250,000 bond each.
