COUPLAND, Texas (KXAN) — Manville Water Supply Corporation in Williamson County is asking customers to conserve and boil their water, after “system wide” electrical failures created issues Monday during wintry weather.

Manville issued the boil water notice for all customers Monday evening just after 6:30 p.m. due to a decrease in water pressure that occurred.

Manville Water is not the only supplier dealing with these issues.

Earlier on Monday, the city of Kyle also asked its residents to suspend water usage until further notice, due to power loss locally and at the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA), which serves a 10-county district.

“We are close to running out of water supply in #KyleTX,” a Twitter announcement read.

The city of Kyle explained the GBRA operates the San Marcos surface water treatment plant, and the city is a customer. It gets up to 4.8 million gallons of water per day, but due to the outages, the GBRA hasn’t been able to supply water from Lake Dunlap to the plant.

Power outages have also hindered the city of Kyle from producing water from groundwater wells, which have limited capacity too.

The city said GBRA crews are currently working to get the pump station back up and running. They do not know when that would be.

Other boil water notices

The city of Pflugerville is asking its water customers to boil their water before consumption too.

This is due to a prolonged power outage at the water treatment plant that caused distribution pressures to drop below 20 psi, the city of Pflugerville said.

The city of Taylor is under a boil water notice due to a “prolonged power outage at the water treatment plant,” it said. These are for customers with the Taylor Public Water System.

Residents might also experience little to no water pressure until power has been restored.

“The Brazos River Authority is working to restore power at the plant, but until further notice all city water customers must boil their water prior to consumption,” the city said.

Monarch Utilities is announcing a boil water notice for customers in the Plum Creek water system in eastern Hays County. “Due to repeated power outages, the system is unable to keep up with demand,” a press release from the utility company said. This notice affects more than 2,400 customers.

Crossroads Utilities said its customers in the Elm Creek area in Elgin need to boil their water “due to a failure of equipment at the Elm Creek Booster Station, causing a loss of water pressure for the Travis County MUD #14 water system.”

Aqua Water Supply in Bastrop is asking all customers to boil their water after it said all of its system experienced low pressure as a result of winter storm conditions and power outages Tuesday morning.

The city of Georgetown has issued a boil water notice to residents in the Florence and Liberty Hill areas “due to extended, sub-freezing temperatures at the Hoover Pump Station and Carriage Oaks Elevated Tank, and subsequent loss of water pressure in the system.”

At 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, the boil water notice was extended to include the following areas, totaling 14,720 customers:

• The Westinghouse area bound by Interstate 35 to FM 1460 (about 1,700 customers)
• Areas west of Georgetown, including Santa Rita, Northlake, and Andice (about 11,000 customers)

The red areas outline the affected neighborhoods and residences.

Other residents in the are could be asked to boil their water later on. Georgetown is asking residents to prepare by filling bathtubs with water and limiting flushing.

“People who are in need of water and are unable to boil water due to extended power outages need to call 911, so they can be transported to warming shelters,” the city said.

Bell County WCID #5, Bell-Milam-Falls WSC, Little Elm Valley WSC and Marlow WSC announced Tuesday people should boil their water because of an outage. Customers can Robert Jekel at 1 (800) 826-4322 with questions.

SouthWest Water Company issued a boil water notice for the Windermere Community in Travis County, saying the system can’t keep up with demand because of repeated power outages, and it’s caused low distribution pressure. “Customers with questions regarding this notice may contact the company at 1 (866) 654-7992 or check the Boil Water Notice section of swwc.com,” it wrote.

The city of Leander customers may be experiencing a reduction or loss of water service, the city said. A boil water notice is in effect for all water customers due to extremely cold temperatures and intermittent power outages to critical city infrastructure. Conserve water as much as possible.

Lee County Water Supply is asking customers in the following areas to boil their water until further notice:

• TX 21 and FM 141 in Dime Box going south to Giddings City Limits
• FM 1697 and FM 180 to Nails Creek Park and south approximately 5 miles
• CR 117 to all of the Leobau area
• All Country Corner Area
• Country Corner to FM 2440
• All of FM 2440 to TX 21
• All of County Road 113 to TX 21.

Customers in the Travis County WCID No.17 service area, other than Steiner Ranch, may be experiencing a reduction or loss of water service. Full restoration of service is ongoing but unknown at this time. A boil water notice is also in effect for customers in the WCID No.17 service area with the exception of Steiner Ranch.

County Line Special Utility District on the eastern side of Kyle and Uhland has issued a boil water notice as a precaution. “Due to the freezing weather and power outages, our water tanks are lower than normal,” a spokesperson said.
