Deputies: Murder suspect ID’d, arrested after multi-agency search

KXAN (AUSTIN) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office identified a 32-year-old suspect in a homicide investigation on Saturday.

He is identified as Archie Samuel Rogers Jr., who is from Bartlett, Texas. 

The Barlett police department responded to 624 West Jackson St. just after 4 p.m. on Friday to a dead person who had a gunshot wound. That’s when the department asked for assistance from Williamson County deputies. 

At around 10:20 p.m. on Friday, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office shared the suspect’s location with the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, believing he was armed and in the 7400 block of East FM 243, according to a press release.

Burnet County Deputies, Williamson County SWAT and a DPS helicopter responded to the area and surrounded the field where the suspect’s vehicle was found.

The suspect surrendered while Williamson County SWAT approached around 5 a.m. on Saturday and the DPS Aviation Unit’s drone observed and located him. The suspect was taken into custody by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and transported from the scene.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife, Burnet Police Department and Burnet Fire Department were also active agencies in this effort.

Rogers is charged with first degree murder. There is no further threat to the public.
