Walnut Creek Park brush fire declared arson, suspect arrested


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A suspect was arrested in connection to a brush fire that was quickly contained by the Austin Fire Department Sunday afternoon.

AFD responded to the fire in the Walnut Creek Park in north Austin at 5:45 p.m. The blaze was quickly contained to less than one acre. A fence was damaged. 

A 52-year-old man was taken into custody as the prime suspect in the cause of the fire. He will likely be charged with arson.
