AUSTIN (KXAN) — A boater was rescued on Lake Austin Tuesday morning after he tried securing his boat, fell and then had to swim after the boat as it floated downstream.
With four floodgates open at Mansfield Dam, which feeds into Lake Austin, the water is flowing fast.
Surveillance video sent to KXAN by Mark Collier, who lives along the lake near Cuernavaca Drive, captured the man frantically trying to catch up to his boat.
Austin firefighters said just after 10 a.m. they were called to Lake Austin after a man jumped on a boat while trying to secure it and fell in.
AFD units waited for the man downstream to help get him and the boat to shore.
Firefighters said the man was uninjured.
Watercraft is currently banned from Lake Austin due to swift-moving water through Monday, Oct. 29.
