AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Travis County EMS and STAR Flight rescued someone who was reported to be stuck on an island with rising water on Sunday afternoon in southeast Austin
Crews responded the 800 block of Grove Boulevard near the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park. The call came in just before 1:30 p.m.
STAR Flight began searching for the victim while ground responders stayed with the 911 caller to gain and maintain a visual of the person.
Eventually, STAR Flight deployed one of their rescuers to pick up the victim because the currents were too strong for AFD to make the rescue in the water, according to ATC-EMS’s tweet.
The patient was rescued and taken back to land to be evaluated by EMS, but responders said the person was not injured and did not want medical attention.
