Trial begins for ex-AISD bus driver accused of sexual assault

Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man accused of sexually assaulting a student when he was an Austin ISD bus driver faced a judge and jury Monday.

The jury will have to determine whether Leon Young is guilty of sexual assault. Young has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In April 2015, he was accused of inappropriately touching a 6-year-old girl at his driver’s seat. Two Walnut Creek Elementary students told authorities they saw it happen, which prompted the investigation.

In court Tuesday, those students who witnessed the alleged assault, the teacher they told about it, the responding Austin ISD police officer and the victim’s mother all testified.
