Travis County investigating report of someone shooting at planes

Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) —  Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has resumed normal operations after the Travis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of someone shooting at planes.

There was a precautionary ground stop issued for the airport, but it has not specified why beyond an “incident” nearby. Numerous passengers have reached out to KXAN, saying they are stuck on planes.

As of 12:24 p.m. Travis County deputies have not found a suspect in the area but are still searching in the area of Richard Moya Park at 10001 Burleson Road, just south of the airport. It tweeted “Despite rumors, there are NO escaped inmates from Travis County Correctional Complex,” and confirmed all inmates are accounted for.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirms it has a helicopter on scene.
