Travis County inmate’s death under investigation

File Travis County Jail

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Travis County Jail inmate died after he was found lying on the floor of his cell Sunday morning.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Ronald Lynn Hall was found “in distress” and taken to Dell Seton Medical Center.

CPR was performed on the man in the ambulance and efforts to save Hall’s life continued at the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

He was pronounced deceased at 10:20 a.m. An investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit, the Texas Rangers and the Medical Examiner’s Office is ongoing, which the sheriff’s office says is customary for any death in custody.

An autopsy was conducted Monday. A final report on the death is pending toxicology results.

The sheriff’s office says Hall was arrested in April 2017 and charged with driving while intoxicated and a parole violation.
