Trail of Lights to open Saturday for final day

Austin

Austin (KXAN) — Austin’s Christmas tradition, the Trail of Lights, will be open for it’s final day on Saturday after rain caused it to close on Friday.

Since it opened this year on December 9, the Trail of lights has closed for four days due to rain and muddy grounds at Zilker Park.

The Trail of Lights team worked Friday and Saturday morning to remove enough water from the park grounds. Organizers say after many closures this season, they are expecting a busy last day.

On Saturday, the shuttles will begin operating at 4:30 p.m. from the Toney Burger Center and Republic Square Park to accommodate the anticipated crowd. The front gates will open at their regular time- 7 p.m.

If you purchased tickets for one of the days that were cancelled- December 16, 17, or 22-  you can use your tickets for entry on Saturday. Just present your tickets at the pedestrian gates or at the shuttle locations.

If you purchased a parking pass for one of those days, you can also use it for parking on Saturday based on parking availability. You must submit a parking exchange request by 4 p.m. Saturday to exchanges@austintrailoflights.org. Organizers say they are prioritizing emails regarding parking exchanges.

If you do not wish to exchange your parking pass to Saturday, your parking ticket from December 16th, 17th, 19th, or 22nd may be used as a shuttle ride to the event.
