AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police said three people were shot early Monday morning in north Austin.
Police responded to a shopping center at 9515 North Lamar Blvd. northeast of West Rundberg Lane just before 3 a.m.
Two men and one woman were shot, according to the Austin Police Department. Police said Austin-Travis County EMS took two victims to Dell Seton Medical Center, while the third was dropped off by someone else at St. David’s.
ATCEMS said paramedics took two adults with gunshot wounds to the hospital. ATCEMS said one person was in critical condition and the other in serious condition. APD doesn’t know the condition of the person dropped off at St. David’s at this time.
Police believe two groups of people began shooting at each other about the same time a nightclub in the shopping center was letting people out.
One of the Dollar Tree managers in the shopping plaza was able to provide police with surveillance video from inside the store but unfortunately, the manager said the video was too grainy and dark to tell what exactly was going on.
“You can see cars pulling up to the parking spaces. You can see them driving by but you can’t necessarily tell the make or model because it’s so dark,” explained Dashalyne Simmons, a longtime employee, “At one point, we think we might have seen someone actually walk by the door but again, the footage is so grainy and it’s so dark because it’s from the inside of the store.”
Police do not have any suspects in custody. APD is asking witnesses to come forward, or if you have video of the shooting to call the APD tip line at (512) 472-TIPS.
