AUSTIN (KXAN/ ABJ) —  An Austin-based tech startup company is bringing innovation into the homebuilding process and giving buyers more control in creating their dream homes.

Virtual Reality meets home buying and customization

MyHouseBy allows homebuilders to virtually construct homes that they can buy and then actually have built, in select neighborhoods. Then buyers can walk through the home, either using 2D or 3D images or while immersed in virtual reality experience. The company is similar to Zillow but instead of allowing buyers to search for a move-in ready house on the market, they can build their home from scratch.

Through the customizing experience, buyers can select where they want to build a home, what amenities they would like nearby, their price range, the style of house they want and what types of rooms they would like to see in their house. Other customizable options include the type of bar or island that should be installed in the kitchen.

As you move through the virtual space, the website allows you to add or remove features and amenities. The site also will also show the user how much more or less they will have to pay as they customize and add new features.

The company launched its project on March 15 in San Antonio.
