AUSTIN (KXAN) — While Austin boasts several high-profile, women-led companies such as Bumble and Kendra Scott, the landscape remains a challenging one for female founders and executives.
Venture capital funding in 2018 for women-founded startups comprised just 2.2 percent of total VC funding, TechCrunch reported — the same percentage as 2017. There were only 24 female CEOs at Fortune 500 companies in 2018 or 4.8 percent of the total. That’s after hitting a high of 32, or 6.4 percent, in 2017, Fortune reported.
But Boston Consulting Group data shows female-founded startups generated 10 percent more revenue over a five-year span.
