AUSTIN (KXAN) — A naked man tried breaking into a central Austin apartment Friday morning with two teenagers inside, police say.
The sisters, Roxanna Arroyo, 16, and Crystal Arroyo, 14, were home alone while their mother was at work, and said they woke up to a pounding on their door around 6:20 a.m.
When they peered through the peephole on their front door, they saw a man standing there and screaming for them to let him in.
“We were scared because we were alone, it’s 6 o’clock. it’s out of the nowhere, and we just hear this banging on the door, and it’s a stranger that we don’t know,” Roxanna said.
Police later identified the man as Brandon Lee Campbell, 38.
The sisters said they’d seen Campbell before at their apartment complex in the 1700 block of Wooten Park Drive.
When Campbell momentarily turned around and walked away from them, the girls saw he wasn’t wearing any clothes.
“I saw there was a guy, naked,” Crystal said. “I thought that maybe he was on drugs, or he was high, he looked high.”
When officers arrived, they saw Campbell completely naked with his pants in hand in front of the apartment door. They told him to come down the stairs, but when he refused, officers approached and placed him in handcuffs.
Police say they think Campbell was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs based on him not being able to stand, slurred speech and him not knowing where he was. He was arrested on public intoxication charges. He was also charged with failure to identify.
