AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin teenager was arrested late Sunday night, accused of pointing a loaded gun at his sister.

The girl escaped and called police around 10 p.m., and members of the Austin Police SWAT team responded to the home on the 7100 block of Townsborough Drive.

The girl told police her brother was possibly high on drugs and had pointed a gun at her. She told officers that if they arrived with their lights on and sirens blaring, her brother would run away.

Officers came quietly and parked a few houses down. They met with the teen’s parents and then called in SWAT to help. A bomb technician with the SWAT team used a robot to enter the house where they found the teen asleep in his room. A hostage negotiator woke him up and got him to leave the home peacefully.

Austin Police arrested him and took him to a juvenile detention facility.

Patrol officers have since taken over the investigation, which is for aggravated assault and family violence.
