SPICEWOOD, Texas (KXAN) — Multiple agencies responded Wednesday after a tanker truck rolled over on its side in Spicewood, Texas, west of Austin, and leaked propane.
The truck, which its driver said had about 1000 gallons of propane in it, rolled over around 1:24 p.m. and started leaking in the 4200 block of Bee Creek Road, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
The Pedernales Fire Department said initially that there was a “visible vapor cloud” in the area. Crews worked to close emergency shut off valves and stopped the leak around 2:20 p.m. The driver of the tanker truck climbed out of it and went to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Pedernales Fire Department. Two nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.
Fire units from Pedernales, Lake Travis Fire Rescue and Austin are both monitoring and mitigating the leak.. The company offloaded the rest of the propane. The road reopened around 4:30 p.m.
