AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was arrested after being accused of hitting a unicyclist and leaving the scene back in December.

The suspect is identified as Joe Walker Gordon III, 58.

Austin police officers responded to the intersection of West 6th St. and North Lamar Blvd. just after 9 p.m.

The victim told police that he saw the ok signal for him to go through the crosswalk, as as he proceeded on his unicycle, the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck started to turn. That is when the driver, identified as Gordon, struck the unicyclist and knocked him to the ground.

He parked at first and they were going to exchange information, but then Gordon began to argue with the victim about him being at fault for the crash. He refused to help the victim or give him his information and then got back in his truck and left.

When officers arrived on the scene, they noticed the victim had scrapes on his right forearm and his left shin knee area.

Officers later created a photo lineup, and the victim picked Gordon as the person who hit him.

Gordon is charged with failure to stop and render aid and his bond is set at $15,000.
