Some waterway restrictions lifted in Austin after recent heavy rains

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Only one waterway is still closed Thursday after a number of them in Austin were shut down following recent heavy rains in Central Texas and floodgate operations meant to mitigate the affects of that rain.

The Austin Fire Department says Tom Miller Dam to Redbud Trail remains closed. Tom Miller Dam itself has one floodgate fully open as of Thursday and another partially open. The Lower Colorado River Authority expects to close both later this week.

People are not allowed to use boats or other watercraft in that area. The ban expires Friday at noon.

Barton Springs pool in Austin also remains closed because of the heavy rain.
