Severe weather leads to power outages across the city

AUSTIN (KXAN) — While the severe weather this weekend has had an effect on Austin roads, many residents and are experiencing the storm’s effects within their own homes.

Austin Energy was working to address more than 5,000 customers who were without power around 9:40 a.m. Sunday. Per the company’s Twitter, 10 restoration crews and four tree crews were trying to safely restore power amidst the storm.

An update was sent out just after 10 a.m., sharing that the outages were only affecting 2,500 customers, more than halfway down from the morning’s earlier count.

Per the Austin Energy outage map, the only 625 customers remain without power as a result of the Sunday storms.
