AUSTIN (KXAN) — A jury has sentenced a distracted semi-truck driver who ran a red light, and killed a 15-year-old Del Valle High School student back in 2015 to 11 years in prison Thursday.

Nathan Frazier was looking at his GPS when he ran a red light at SH 130 and Parmer Lane. His semi hit Margarita Ramirez’s car, killing her daughter Jazmin, and injuring her son who was just 22-months old at the time.

The jury found Frazier guilty of criminally negligent homicide with a deadly weapon. In addition to the 11-years in prison, he must also pay a $10,000 dollar fine.
