AUSTIN (KXAN) — The second All Women Flight from Honor Flight Austin returned Saturday evening to cheers and applause from those gathered at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to welcome them from their visit to Washington D.C.
Honor Flight Austin is a nonprofit organization created to honor veterans by taking them to visit and reflect at their war memorials.
The flight took 42 women veterans from World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars to the nation’s capital to visit and experience the memorials built in their honor.
Women veterans from across the state visited the Vietnam Women’s Memorial on the National Mall and the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery.
The flight is Honor Flight’s 54th flight and is the third for this fall of 2018.
