AUSTIN (KXAN) — A new nonstop seasonal flight between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Steamboat Springs, Colorado, launched Wednesday from the South Terminal.

The inaugural flight ceremony included ViaAir and Steamboat Springs Resort representatives, live performances by Raina Rose, cake and a ribbon cutting, the airport said in a statement.

Olympian Billy Kidd, the first U.S. men’s slalom silver medalist, was the featured speaker at ViaAir’s launch.

The flight will operate three days a week — on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Availability can be found at

ViaAir recently announced that it will begin nonstop service from Austin to Tucson (TUS) and to Oklahoma City (OKC) beginning on Jan. 18, 2018.

ViaAir also announced plans to base crews and maintenance at ABIA, positioning its Austin operations to expand.
