AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s that time of the year when Girl Scouts are out selling their famous cookies, and who can resist, even if it means taking a plunge?
This troop is taking girl scout cookies to new depths. Customers can place their orders on land and the girl scout scuba divers will send the sealed cookies 12 feet up.
These girl scouts are not just selling cookies though, they’re sending a message about the importance of clean water and protecting the environment.
Last year, these girls used some of their cookie money to visit the Florida Keys and volunteer at a coral restoration facility.
“These girls are truly out there ready to make a difference and if you talk to any of them their immediate message to you is going to be ocean conservation,” said Girl Scout Leader Karina Erickson.
