AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Book Festival has released their 2018 lineup of over 275 nationally revered authors, including astronaut Scott Kelly and the former mayor of San Antonio, Julian Castro.

Among the diverse collection of writers in the 2018 lineup are novelists, chefs, photographers, comedians and activists. The festival will run through the weekend of Oct. 27 and 28, in and around the Texas State Capitol and Congress Avenue.

The Texas Book Festival Weekend was originally founded in 1995 by former First Lady Laura Bush. It has become one of the largest and well known literary festivals in the country.

The weekend will be preceded by a black tie event known as the First Edition Literary Gala. The money raised at the gala goes directly into the festival to keep it free for everyone, and the fund year-round outreach programs.

“It’s an honor to welcome so many wonderful authors to Texas. The breadth and quality of work published this year have made for an embarrassment of riches at this year’s Festival. We cannot wait for October!” said Julie Wernersbach, literary director for the festival.
