Two private schools near the explosion site in southwest Austin will start classes late on Monday, while one has canceled them altogether.
Regents School of Austin, located on Travis Country Circle, initially said school would be delayed, but around 6:16 a.m. tweeted that it will be closed as officials sweep the Travis Country housing area where the fourth bomb in Austin went off.
The school is less than 1.5 miles away from the explosion on Dawn Song Drive.
“Although this tragic event hits close to our community let us be resolved in what, and who, we look to in times as this,” wrote the school on its website.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, located across from the Travis Country subdivision, is also on a 2-hour delay Monday.
St. Gabriel’s Catholic School has a delayed start until 10:30 a.m. and will perform a security sweep before students arrive. The school is about 7 miles away from the explosion area.
