AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K will be held Sunday, just days after record-breaking heat hit the city. Would these temperatures benefit runners if they held and if not, what temperatures would?
KXAN did some research and learned that the ideal running temperature for running a marathon would be in the mid 40s and the lower 60s for a shorter race.
The average temperatures for the five fastest runs from men and women runners are 40.4 for men and 43.4 for women. The average temperatures for the five slowest runs from men and women runners are 55.4 for men and 51.8 for women.
