Retirement apartment a ‘total loss’ after fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An 8-unit retirement apartment in northeast Austin is a “total loss” after a fire, Austin Fire Department said.

When firefighters arrived around 4:06 a.m., there was heavy fire in the attic. Firefighters brought it under control around 5:27 a.m. 

No one was hurt, and at least 7 people will be displaced. The Red Cross and community management are helping them relocate.
