AUSTIN (KXAN) — The south terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport lost power Sunday causing flight delays.
A spokesperson for ABIA said the power in the south terminal went out around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. He says the power outage lasted for almost two hours. Since many airport operations rely on electricity it prompted some flight delays.
The Transportation Security Agency had to halt their security checks while passengers waited. Allegiant Air, which is housed in the south terminal, was the only airline effected by the outage, according to ABIA.
Via Air is also in the south terminal, but did not have any flights around the time of the outage.
ABIA said the outage was caused by a mishap during maintenance. Power has been restored to the terminal.
