Police say woman who died in MoPac Expressway crash lost control of vehicle

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police have identified the woman who was killed in a crash on the 1000 block of the northbound MoPac Expressway the morning of Sunday, May 12.

According to Austin Police Department’s preliminary investigation, Cheyanne Sage Serrano, 26, was killed when she lost control of the vehicle and slid into a grassy area between MoPac and the frontage road. It’s not yet known what caused her to lose control of the vehicle.

Austin-Travis County EMS sais the crash was between the car and a fixed object. Investigators say the car had been in the tree line for a while.

Serrano was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is Austin’s 28th fatal traffic crash of 2019, making 29 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, there were 22 fatal traffic crashes and 23 traffic fatalities.
