Police investigating body found in apartment building on South Lamar

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is investigating a man’s body found at 1500 S. Lamar Blvd., the location of the Post South Lamar apartment building.

Officers were called to the scene at 1:43 p.m. Monday and found a man with obvious injuries to his body. APD says attempts to save his life were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was a man in his 20s, Austin-Travis County EMS said.

A police department spokesperson said the initial report was for a “shoot/stab” call, but could not say if the death was being investigated as suspicious.

The spokesperson said while the body was found inside, she did not know exactly where in the building. No one is in custody at this time.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the APD Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
