AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police have identified a man killed in an early morning crash over the weekend on Airport Boulevard.

Police say 64-year-old Victor Carr was driving a Kia Soul southbound near the 1100 block of Airport Boulevard in the early hours of Saturday. A gray Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound when Carr turned left in front of the Corolla, resulting in the crash, investigators wrote.

Carr was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he was pronounced dead at 2:22 a.m. The driver and passenger of the Corolla were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about this wreck is asked to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-6935.

This is Austin’s 30th fatal crash in 2019 and 31st death. Last week, Police Chief Brian Manley expressed concern over the rapid rise in deadly crashes this year — a 30% increase from the year before.
