AUSTIN (KXAN) — Drivers will need to plan ahead if they travel through the South Congress Avenue at Oltorf Street intersection. Starting on Saturday, June 16, the two inside lanes on north and southbound Congress Avenue will be closed for construction to add medians at the intersection.
The construction will take place daily from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. for several weeks as paving and striping are completed. The work is expected to be complete before the end of the summer.
The construction part of the Intersection Safety/Vision Zero improvements as part of the 2016 Mobility Bond. The goal of the planned improvements on Congress Avenue at Oltorf Street is to reduce crashes at the intersection by addressing conflict points, enhancing bicycle and pedestrian visibility and safety, and reducing dangerous movements.
