Pedestrian hit on South Capital of Texas Highway dies

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A pedestrian who was hit in a Jan. 8 traffic accident on South Capital of Texas Highway died in the hospital due to his injuries Tuesday.

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the vehicle was traveling in the center lane of the 3600 block of the highway when he struck Jesus Servantez with his car. The driver remained at the scene and told investigators that he did not see Servantez before the crash.

Servantez was taken to Saint David’s South Austin Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries Jan. 21. 

This is Austin’s third fatal traffic crash of 2019. At this time in 2018, there were two fatal traffic crashes and three traffic fatalities.

No charges are expected to be filed. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to called APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-3761.
