MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — A passenger in an SUV died after the car collided with an 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 290 in Manor Monday morning.

Around 5:20 a.m., the SUV was headed east when it hit the side of the semi as it was driving through the Cedar Street turnaround to travel west, Manor police say.

The driver and front passenger were trapped in the SUV before being rescued, but the passenger died after being airlifted to the hospital. That person’s name will be released once family is notified.

The driver is “under emergency care,” according to police and a second passenger who was in the back seat also went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

US 290 was shut down for a short time Monday morning.
