AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police say a SWAT standoff ended peacefully early Wednesday at an apartment complex in north Austin. At around 12:40 a.m. a caller told police a person inside a unit at the Palms on Lamar complex was threatening to hurt themselves.

The complex is on Lamar Boulevard between Payton Gin Road and Highway 183. Police say the person inside the complex refused to come out and threatened officers if they tried to enter. A SWAT team responded and some nearby residents were evacuated for a short time.

Austin police tweeted just before 4:15 a.m. that the person was taken into custody. The person handcuffed but will not be charged.
