AUSTIN (KXAN) — For travelers seeking a caffeine fix on the fly, a new option opened at the Austin Airport that lets people order using an app and have their drink served up by a robot.
The 24-hour automated Coffee Haus is located next to Gate 8 and served up its first sips of coffee Tuesday. The company behind it, Briggo, is located in Austin and has five other locations in the area.
People can either place their order via an app or at the kiosk, then get an alert when their drink is ready for pick up. The company’s CEO Kevin Nater suggested people would be able to order while in line at security and then grab their drink on the way to the gate.
“No more guesswork, no more long lines,” Nater said. “We had such an amazing response to the connected coffee experience at this year’s SXSW Festival, and we expect an even greater global demand once we’re operating inside Austin’s airport at all hours of the day, every day of the year.”
Until Sept. 3, people who grab a coffee at Briggo can also get 15 percent off a Lyft ride.
The Austin Airport has recently renovated its east food court to add new food options. The Peached Tortilla, JuiceLand and the Hippies & Hops bar opened in May.
