One taken to hospital after shooting in south Austin


AUSTIN (KXAN) — Emergency medics were dispatched to south Austin Wednesday evening in response to a call of a gunshot wound.

According to a tweet from Austin-Travis County EMS, first responders were sent to the 1200 block of Algarita Drive at 6:22 p.m.

One victim on the scene was declared a trauma alert and was taken to a local hospital with critical life-threatening injuries. As of 8 p.m. Wednesday, police say the victim is still alive.

There is currently no suspect information, but Austin Police Department says a white SUV might possibly be a suspect vehicle. Police said on Thursday that no one has been arrested yet.
